“2 ‘n’ 1” Day -RECAP
(The following is a summary of what was read on the morning announcements at DPHS this early week)
“And now for your DP Band Update:
They say "two is better than one", and that was certainly true for the DP Band this past Saturday October 22nd. The band competed in two different OMEA contests in the Springfield Ohio area with a high degree of showmanship and musicality. Here are the results:
At the Springfield-Shawnee March-O-Rama, the DP Band captured 6 different awards, including Best Music, Best General Effect, 2nd Place Visual, and 1st Place in Class B. Special congrats go out to our student conductors, Kalina and Connor, who were awarded Best Field Commanders. The band's overall score was a 242.65 which made them Grand Champions of Class B & C with #1 Superior rating.
Less than 3 hours later, the band turned it on again just down the road at theTecumseh Showcase. At this final district show, the band put up their highest score of the season, a 250.8 and posted straight #1 ratings. Kudos to DP Percussion, for their 4th consecutive #1 rating, and to DP Color Guard who was awarded Best Guard in Class B & C. The DP Band also received 1st Place overall, and remains Grand Champion of this show, which marks the second year in a row that they achieved a "double" Grand Championship. Special thanks go out to our awesome band parents and to our Seniors who have worked so hard for four years.
Deer Park Band will compete in OMEA State Finals on Sunday, November 6th at 5pm up in Dayton's Welcome Stadium.
GO DP BAND !!!!”
NOTE: The staff would also like to commend those students who stayed to watch the bigger A/AA bands on their “audience manners”. This was the first time in a few years we had the opportunity to view some other fine bands from the “home” stands, and we made the most of it! Also, thanks to the parents who helped us coordinate schedules/rides for sports and ACT’s.
SPECIAL PRACTICE FOR STATE FINALS – Friday Nov. 4
With the prospect of no school on Friday, Nov. 4th (teacher in-service day) and no football game that evening, we need to do our final preparations for state during the day. We will have a final required rehearsal from 12:30-3pm on Nov 4th. Please arrange family/work schedules accordingly.
2011 STATE MB FINALS
Our band will compete in OMEA State Finals at Welcome Stadium in Dayton, OH on Sunday, November 6th. Our probable performance time is 5pm. More info will be available during the week preceeding Finals. Visit www.omea-ohio.org for more info.
TAG DAY – NOV. 12 @ AMITY
Our annual Band Sponsors Tag Day we be held Sat., Nov. 12, 2011. All band members should report to the AMITY ELEMENTARY Cafeteria at 9am. We will have the new HS Band uniforms over there already, just know the whereabouts of your black shoes/socks. The change in site was due to a scheduling conflict and is a “one-time only” change. Attendance is required for all band members in Grade 7-12. Look for more information on this important event to be distributed later in the week.
It was a great night in Springfield, Ohio at the Northwestern Bandfest, as the Wildcats took 1st Place Overall in Class B, Class B - Best Music, Class B - Best Visual, and Class B - General Effect. After receiving these awards, the Wildcats then found out they once again qualified for state! Awesome show, everyone!!!
We’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to earn “extra cash” for our bands by selling tickets for our annual Band Night on Friday, September 16th. But we need you to purchase your tickets from the Band Sponsors and not at the gate. Most importantly, we want you to see your child perform during the pre-game festivities at 7pm before the game starts at 7:30pm.
Unfortunately, we have received little response to purchase a ticket from the Band Sponsors. To help make things a little easier, I’ll be selling tickets Friday night outside the band room from 6:00pm – 6:45pm. Ticket prices are $6.00 for adult and $4.00 for students. Check out our band website for order forms.
Please help support the band and purchase your tickets!
Burbbitt is like Groupon - you sign up for the daily e-mail and see if you are interested in the "deal". It's usually 50% off a restaurant or something similar. Deer Park Band Sponsors gets 10% of any purchases for the deals of businesses that support us.
A Fundraiser is being conducted by the Deer Park Band Sponsors, and this Flock of Pink Flamingos has gathered upon your property to roost. In case you did not know this, Plastic Pink Flamingos are very territorial and unless they are placed on someone else’s lawn, they will roost on your property for a very long time. Removal of this Flock of Pink Plastic Lawn Flamingos should be attempted only by trained professionals. Fortunately, our Removal Technicians are highly skilled.
Deer Park Band Sponsors is working hard to raise funds for the Marching Band’s March 2012 Trip to Disney! We understand that times are tough, and that you may not be able to donate at this time, but we hope that you’ve enjoyed this surprise flocking and appreciate the spirit and goodwill with which it was intended. Your flock will be removed by our Removal Technicians within 24 hours of placement.
To arrange a Flocking please mail "ransom note" with your donation to: Deer Park Band Sponsors c/o 4046 O'Leary Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45236 (Or leave with the Flock for the Removal Technicians) Questions? Call Penny @ 793-7096.
